3D Mark Basic Edition is a software which was designed by Futuremark and it has the function of measuring performance while one is playing a game on his computer. Presently this software is not available on all the operating systems, but the designers have assured that over time the software will be available on more operating systems than it currently is. Presently, it is available on the android as well as the windows operating systems.

3D Mark Basic Edition can be installed quite quickly on the computer and after installation, it provides the user with windows and instructions on how to conduct various tests which the user wants to conduct on their computers. It is advisable to read and follow the instructions to the letter to be able to navigate the way around this interesting package.

While installing this software, there are three different skins or environments where the software does its testing. Tests are usually done for different   parameters. During the installation of the 3D Mark Basic Edition, the software provides the user with advanced options which helps the user to perform certain functions. The software after conducting the different tests then displays results. Stress testing can also be done by the software using loop benchmarks.

In the 3D Mark Basic Edition, there are 3 windows which come up for the testing and they include:

  1. ICE- Storm: this window uses a kind of polygon with low count to measure the performance. It functions very well for all types of mobile devices which includes phones, tablets, palm tops and the likes. This window works for these kinds of devices.
  2. Cloud Gate: this works fine for normal laptops and computers, and helps to monitor and evaluate performance of these devices while gaming is going on. It works quite well and displays results for all to see
  3. Fire Strike: this technology is built with the future in mind. The level and kind of monitoring it does are not readily available yet for everyone to use.

Sometimes there are a few glitches while using the software but a simple restart of the operation is all that is needed to get the software working again.
