fre:ac is a free and popular CD ripper and audio convertor which supports most of the everyday used encoders and formats. Some of the common conversions it can do are between MP4/M4A, MP3, OGG Vorbis, WMA, WAV, AAC, FLAC and Bonk.
With this software, any of your audio CD can be ripped to WMA or MP3 file, ready to be used with the hardware player. It also converts audio files which fail to play in an audio player/ software. Another work you can do with it is the conversion of complete music libraries and that too without altering the folder and file structure.
The unified CD ripper provides support for freedb/CDDB CD database present online. The song information will be automatically queried by it and it will write ID3 or any other tags containing title information. There are various other vital features which are worth mentioning and those features enable a user to define the pattern of filename. Moreover, you will be able to let the program do the encoding of different audio items into one file.
fre:ac also provides batch processing support. It means that multiple items can be added to a list and converted at same time. You will find that this tool will finish a task rapidly and you will not get a single error during the whole process (while testing no error occurred).
It also has a built-in player which is meant to stop, play and pause the ongoing audio selection, and you can skip to the previous or next song. Moreover, you will have the option to manually add or delete the information for every song, like artist, title, album, track, genre and year.
This software is very easy to use and learn. If you do not want it to be installed in your PC, you will have the option to install the portable version on a USB drive and run it wherever you want. Like other rippers, you will not find any malware or advertisements in this software.
