LameXP from Lord Mulder is an open source audio encoder that can convert from and to different formats. It supports Ogg Vorbis, MP3, FLAC, ACC, and others. The Windows based audio encoder offer built in codecs, filters and plug-ins to make the converted content sound great.

The application is so little in size that one can carry it on USB drives. The encoder supports encoding and conversion of individual and group files. It has batch processing capabilities. One can transfer all the tracks of an album with single click. It has multi-core processor to speed up the work.

The LameXP also supports track metadata, cover art of your audio files. These allow users to quickly modify the information or tags to better organize their library or collection. The software also combines sample rate conversion, normalization, gain, adjusting tone, multi source down mixing and etc.

Here are few tips to run the LameXP. Run the tool in ABR mode when users have a fixed file size and need to maintain the sound quality. Run the LameXP in VBR mode if you do not want to compromise on the quality and ignore the file size factor. LameXP in CBR mode is rare and run it when you have lots of externalities. These modes actually define the conversion bit rate for instance ABR stands for average, VBR stands for Variable and CBR stands for Constant Bit Rate. Each of these modes have different implications on the audio encoding and conversion. The LameXP’s specialty is that it lets the users select between different bit rates.

The LameXP contains FAAD, mpg123 and Valib decoders. These decoders help the tool to support wider array of file inputs in different formats like the Musepack, Opus audio codec, shorten, speex, Sun/NeXT Au, True Audio, and so on. For output the LameXP is bestowed with OggEnc2, Nero AAC, Aften, DCA Enc etc encoders that can work with uncompressed files, waveforms, DCA and others. LameXP stands as a simple looking audio file encoder with powerful functional capabilities.
