The Password Depot 6 is a simple password server which allows individuals or users to manage and jointly incorporate their personal passwords and various other private details. The server is quite ideal complement to most of the main programs found in the Password Depot which is also known as Client.
Basically, every user would need a client and would need to access the server module on which the jointly used passwords files are stored. With regard to the installation of Password Depot, this server module can be downloaded into any PC that is accessible by clients all over the world through the IP address. It can be either installed as Windows Application or NT Service. In both of the cases, the Password Depot will not have any kind of interface and cannot interact with the given desktop. Plus it would use only minimum amount of the resource of the system.
Now in case of the usage, on the server module, the password files of the team will be centrally saved. In addition, the module will try to manage and create all the team members and help in accessing their files. Now since all these files and users are created on the server, the administrator would try to find out the scope in which each of the users would try to access the files. For instance, you can easily be able to find out whether some team members would read certain files while others would try to modify it.
In addition, the administrator would be able to group the users and grant access rights to various team members in a single instance. Frankly, the same file can be simultaneously acquired and accessed by various users. Another important feature of the Password Depot is that the administrator can easily identify and define the security guidelines for the various passwords of the server files and gain access to the detailed usage protocols.
Another extensive feature of the Password Depot is the interplay with clients. With the main program i.e. Password Depot (aka Client); the user would be able to open up the password file which is stored in the secure location of the server. In addition, the tool would even allow accessing the passwords stored in various other locations like the Cloud or the local hard drive.
Now if the user wants to open the shared password file through the server module, he or she needs to log into the server using the information of the client, along with the IP address, password, user name, etc. Once the user is successfully logged in, the user may be able to open all the files for which the administrator has granted the rights to access. However, in order to access the server, the user would require using the full version license of the Password Depot. You cannot use the server module with the help of the freeware version that is used by the client.
