Pixlr has a desktop app version, a web app version and mobile versions for Android and iOS.The mobile version, Pixlr Express, is a milder version with fewer features than the full PC versions. This though is an advantage in the sense that it’s ideal for on the road image editing when you can’t access a computer but urgently need to get things done. The web-based version can be used on any browser as the computer’s hardware can support flash software technology. Pixlr is a cross-platform application that works on most, if not all, Operating systems (Mac Os, Windows, and Linux).
Pixlr users will be relieved to find login procedures are not necessary for access to either the web app or the desktop app. The layout of the app is simple, uncluttered and easy to use for people new to image editing programs. Pixlr uses a layout similar to most high-end photo editing programs. This ensures that users who have grown accustomed to using different programs use little to no effort adjusting to Pixlr. The various toolbars on the canvas can be rearranged into whatever arrangement works best for you. A handy tool is the numerous online tutorials for the absolute novice and those looking to solidify their skills in image editing.
A great feature in the web version is Grabber. Grabber is an add-on in Mozilla that enables you to effortlessly ‘grab’ images from web pages and into your web app or desktop app for editing. You’ll have to all the essential features of most image editors like crop, resize, straighten or rotate. With more than 100 effects, 200 borders, 340 overlays, transparency controls, and element resize and rotation features you’ll have access to over 2 million combination effects to choose from for amazing results. Pixlr gives you surgical control over how effects are implemented on specific parts of your image through the use of influence masks. The use of simple once click fixes is possible to balance color and correct bad lighting.
Pixlr supports image formats such as JPG, GIF and PSD files. Not only does it enable you to save your files on your PC or the pixlr library, but Pixlr lets you share your work on platforms like Facebook, Flickr, and Picasa.
