The Wii Backup File System Manager is a utility to manage archives, backups and game disks and drives that are supposed to work with Nintendo Wii. This software is a GUI that works with wbfs_win command line utility. This is used for managing WBFS filesystem, which was developed to load homebrew video games on Wii. Using this tool, you can load homebrew games and launch them by using Wii USB loader. This is an essential utility that can allow you to play many more independently developed games and get the most out of your Wii.
The Wii Backup File System Manager can also be used to create a backup from disks. The operation can reduce the size of some games from a full disk to as little as 100 MB. This tool also supports batch processing of many ISO files at once. It can also get the original game back from the backup files. It can be used to format a USB drive to WBFS file system. It also allows you to manipulate volumes with WBFS file system. You can see a list of all the games with their titles, sizes and codes at a glance. You can extract this list to a .csv file. It supports drag and drop copying of files to WBFS file system. You can see the summary of disk utilisation at a glance so that you know how much space you have in order to plan what games you want to place on the drive. For using homebrew games, it supports creating new entries for homebrew games. It also supports automatic RAR extraction, batch extraction and deletion. It can support multiple cover directories and it can also create channels.
The software requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 to run. If you don’t have it installed, you will be prompted to download and install it from Microsoft. Once you have this prerequisite installed, the installation should complete quickly and you can get to work immediately. The user interface is very simple with all the options you need presented upfront. Plug in the USB drive and if it is not formatted to WBFS file system, you can do it now. If it already is, the contents and the list of games should be displayed. Then select the ISO files that you need to add to the backup, then click Add to Drive. For other operations, all the options presented upfront are pretty much self-explanatory.
