WPS Office is a Microsoft office compatible productivity suite developed by Kingsoft softwares. It is available in a free open source version as well as a paid one. It efficiently combines together a Word Processor, a Presentation manager and a Spreadsheet tool. It has a beta version that boasts of working across various major platforms including Linux, mobile phones with Android or iOS.

WPS word processor is pretty much a look alike of the Microsoft word and offers a great deal of its functionality as well. It might lack in features, like citations, Grammar check and some bibliographic formatting but it has its share of trumps as it offers some nifty moves like chronological arrangement od Back up files, Night mode and eye protection.

WPS office Presentation boasts of better compatibility to Microsoft than any other open source office tools in the market. It offers over 600 templates, a score of sound effects and numerous attractive ‘transition wipe options.’

WPS office Spreadsheets: About 70 different templates, Business, invoices, finance, budgets etc. provide an excellent and smooth work experience.

Interface: The WPS suite offers you a twin model of interface. One look is intended to provide a closer feel to the current version of Microsoft office i.e. a ribbon interface that is set as the default option and the other is the classic variant that is static interface. All the tools are not exactly arranged like Microsoft but they have all been incorporated except the citations.

You can switch between the two interfaces using the interface icon in the WPS and moreover you have the option of using different interfaces for different apps like you can use ribbon view for spreadsheets and the static one for word processor.The different programs will remember their respective choices and present accordingly, every time you open the app.

It offers a Backup and recovery option along with simple actions as save, close open etc. On the top right there is a drop down menu that provides an easy access to several options like insert, format, tools, tables etc.

Templates: Hundreds of free and powerful templates are available online for office, reports, charts, business etc.

Negative: There are several pop up ads that surface when you avail certain features in free version. This might get annoying but they don’t appear in the paid variant.
