The Free Serial Port Monitor is an interactive software package which one uses to create virtual ports. It can be used in many ways and one of the most common is connecting to a named pipe. You can even connect it to other virtual COM ports, thereby creating a virtual bridge and emulating the null modem cable (which is virtual).
Also, you can connect it with two files. Basically, when an app opens or creates a virtual COM port, it would initially read data. These data would be read from the inputted files. If the data is written in serial port, then it would be written in the output file. Technically, this free software package contains various components and it is these components that make it so easy to use.
One such product is free virtual serial ports device driver. Now this device driver would implement the basic functionality of the virtual and serial port device. Plus, in normal instances, it would operate in basic user mode space and unlike most of the various other device drivers, this would make the system quite secure and stable.
Another product is the fee virtual com port active X control. It provides a good and easy rich API for apps that can help in creating and managing the virtual and serial ports. Even the basic product like free virtual com port configuration utility, is a perfect example of the ActiveX Control API client. This tool provides a simple user interface for management and creation of virtual and serial devices.
Not all environments can be supportive for Free Serial Port Monitor. Operating systems like Windows 7 (i.e. both in 64 and 32 bits), Windows Vista (which is both in 64 bits and 32 bits), Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2008 (which is in 64 and 32 bit)
